Road Restrictions – The Open Golf Royal Troon (15-21 July)
Passengers travelling to Glasgow Prestwick Airport between 15-21 July 2024, please allow extra time for their journey to ensure you arrive on time for your departing flight.
We would like to inform passengers about several road restrictions that will be in place around the Airport during the Open Golf that is being held at Royal Troon from 15-21 July 2024. Please be aware of the following:
- Speed Restrictions: Temporary speed limits on the roads surrounding the Airport will be reduced to 30 mph. Speed Restrictions Map and Information.
- Road Layout Changes: There will be no right turns in certain areas along the A79. No Right Turn Map
- No Waiting Areas: Please respect the designated No Waiting Areas. No Waiting InformationÂ
These measures, along with the additional traffic due to the Open, are likely to increase congestion around the Airport.
Park and Ride Facility for the Open Golf
There are planned park and ride facilities for the Open Golf in close proximity to the airport which will add to congestion on the road network. Access to these car parks will involve using the roundabout outside the Airport’s Car Parks to then travel northbound on the A79 to the car park entrance. Public Transport
Public transport is also expected to be busier than usual. Scotrail will have additional services running throughout the week, with trains starting earlier and an increased number of trains per hour.

During this time, please plan your journey ahead and allow additional travel time to the airport to ensure timely arrival.
