Glasgow Prestwick Airport Employees Give Back
Employees at Glasgow Prestwick Airport have joined forces over the past three years to raise a remarkable £5,600 which has now been donated to four deserving charities. This initiative reflects the airport’s commitment to making a positive difference in the community.
Every month, money from employees who have signed up, is donated into the Charity and Fundraising fund through salary sacrifice. The money raised is then donated to charities of the employee’s choice.
When you Wish Upon a Star, Ayrshire Cancer Support, Whiteleys Retreat and Crosshouse Children’s fund received their donations on Friday.
Kirsten Watson, CEO at Crosshouse Children’s Fund, said: “We’d like to thank Glasgow Prestwick Airport for their tremendous donation to support Ayrshire’s babies, children and young people in hospital. This generous gift will ensure our NHS heroes at hospitals and facilities just a few miles from the airport can continue their amazing work caring for young patients.”
Nicola George, Head of Fundraising at Ayrshire Cancer Support said; “We at Ayrshire Cancer Support are thrilled to be chosen by the team at Glasgow Prestwick Airport to received this incredibly generous donation. This money will allow us to deliver our vital support services to all children, young people and adults affected by cancer in Ayrshire. We wish all staff a restful time over the festive season and thank you for your support🧡”
Head of Fundraising, Gillian McNeilly, from Whiteleys Retreat said; “I was delighted to join the team at Glasgow Prestwick Airport last week to receive a very generous donation of £1500. This money was raised through staff donations and will allow us to continue to provide therapeutic respite and extended support to children, young people and their families across Scotland, with cancer or a life altering illness.”
In 2024, the airport’s employees remain committed to its charitable efforts, and they will once again have the opportunity to select a charity of their choice for the annual donation.
Moira Kelly, Glasgow Prestwick’s Charity committee chair said: “A massive thank you to all our employees who participated in this incredible effort. The £5,600 donation reflects not just their generosity but also our ongoing dedication to making a positive impact.”
